About Richard
Originally from the UK, Richard has been in Hong Kong for just shy of 27 years and has been fully licensed by the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission (HKSFC) since the regime began in 2003, as well as the Hong Kong Insurance Authority (and its predecessor the HKCIB), and the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Authority.
Richard’s career in Financial Services started in banking with Lloyds Bank in the West End in London, before migrating to the Financial Services and Wealth Management field in the late 1980’s. His move to Hong Kong permanently, took place in September 1997, following repeated annual visits and short spells in the former colony that started in 1989.
Starting with Towry Law in 1997, before progressing to Lloyds TSB Private Banking, and then TTG (HK) Limited (now CBH Asia Limited, a Swiss family-owned private bank), Richard qualified as a Responsible Officer to the Regulator (HKSFC) in 2007, and has remained as such for Dealing in Securities, Advising on Securities, and Asset Management. He is a firm believer in the provision of ethical advice on a bespoke basis and managing discretionary portfolios for clients on a risk tolerance basis. and still retains clients after many years in Asia. A keen traveler, his business experience in Asia has been widespread and often involved covering a regional country as an “outside area” for his employer at the time. He has therefore gained extensive experience in the compliant management of such businesses. He joined Holborn in late 2022 and his main role has been assisting in the application for SFC licenses in “Advising on Securities”, and “Asset Management”.
Outside of work, Richard is heavily involved in benevolence and charitable causes, and established a registered society (the Hong Kong Savage Club) in Hong Kong in 2013 which has both charitable and social objects.
